Bahnsturmers Motorcycle Club By-Laws

  1. Purpose

  2. The intent of this club is to promote fellowship, exchange ideas, and organize activities among BMW enthusiasts.

  3. Membership

    1. An applicant for membership must own a BMW motorcycle, or be a BMW motorcycle enthusiast, to be considered for membership.
    2. Applicants for membership must be sponsored by a current club member in good standing and must attend three meetings/functions of the club, after which the applicant may be voted into membership by a simple majority of members in good standing attending the next meeting. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the vote.
    3. A member remains in good standing as long as the required membership dues are paid on time and otherwise meets the standards of conduct of the club. Membership lapses if dues are not paid by the second meeting of the current year.
    4. Members will not engage in disorderly conduct, profanity, or excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages while attending club functions. Repeated violation of this, or any, By-Law will be grounds for expulsion. Members may be expelled from the club by a simple majority vote of members in good standing present at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
    5. Non-members owning BMW's and other makes of motorcycles are welcome at general meetings, rides, and social functions of the club as long as they are invited guests of specific present members. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
    6. Each member in good standing is entitled to voting rights and the right to hold any office in the club. Absentee ballots may be submitted to the Secretary/Treasurer in advance of any vote. The absent member will then be counted as if present at the corresponding meeting.

  4. Dues

    1. Annual dues shall be for the calendar year, payable by the second meeting of the new year to the Secretary/Treasurer.
    2. Dues will be $10.00, per year, per voting member.

  5. Officers

  6. Officers must be members in good standing of the club. The terms of office will be for one calendar year. Elections for officers will be held in November, with new officers assuming the duties of the office January 1.

    1. President --- duties shall be to:
      1. preside at all meetings of the club.
      2. supervise the affairs of the club.
      3. appoint any person or committees not otherwise ordered by the club.
      4. personally represent the club on proper occasions and business contacts.
      5. assist all other officers of the club in their records, correspondence and other duties.
      6. promote interest on the part of each member in club activities.

    2. Vice President --- duties shall be to:
      1. perform assigned duties in the absence of the President.

    3. Secretary/Treasurer --- duties shall be to:
      1. keep a record of the meetings of the club in the minute book provided for that purpose.
      2. send out notices of club meetings and activities.
      3. handle all club correspondence.
      4. collect dues and all other money due the club.
      5. pay all bills owed by the club.
      6. read the Treasurer's report at all regularly scheduled club meetings.
      7. perform any other duties as generally fall to that office.

    4. Activity Coordinator --- duties shall be to:
      1. coordinate all designated club activities and/or assist with planning and coordinating activities.
      2. appoint tour leaders as necessary.

  7. Meetings

    1. Meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month or alternate days of the week, as convenient to the membership.
    2. Meetings will be conducted according to Robert's Rules of Order.

  8. Amendments to the Bylaws

  9. These By-Laws may be amended or added to. The proposed amendment must be submitted in writing at a regularly scheduled meeting, then will be discussed and voted on at the following regularly scheduled meeting. A two-thirds majority vote of all members in good standing present shall be required to pass an amendment.
